Leviathan had nothing do do with their creation and they were "on-the-fly" creations of Pinhead himself without either the facilities hell offers nor the mental deconstruction that goes into making a "true" cenobite. Of course, one could argue that such did apply to Chanard as well and yet he turned out more grandiose than we would expect a cenobite to be, but such are the influences of different writers.
  
  I would urge you to check out "The Scarlet Gospels" when Barker releases the novel soon... he's taking his baby back.
